PROTECT OUR
PETITIONS!
Florida Lawmakers Are Trying to Silence Voters.
We're Fighting Back.

For decades, Floridians have used citizen-led amendments to pass some of the most critical laws in our state—restoring voting rights, raising the minimum wage, legalizing medical marijuana, and protecting our environment.

Now, politicians in Tallahassee want to take that power away, making it nearly impossible for citizens to place amendments on the ballot. If they succeed, voters will lose one of the last tools we have to shape our future. The Florida Legislature is working to rig the system in their favor, but we are fighting back.

What's at Stake?

HB 1205 and SB 1414 are direct attacks on Florida’s citizen petition process. These bills are designed to make it harder, more expensive, and nearly impossible for grassroots campaigns to bring issues directly to the people. If these bills pass, Florida voters will lose the ability to challenge politicians through amendments. Only well-funded special interests will be able to navigate the process.

What These Bills Do:

- Raise the signature requirements, making it nearly impossible to collect enough petitions.
- Add severe restrictions on funding and organization, blocking grassroots efforts.
- Give politicians the power to shut down amendments they don’t like.
- Destroy the petition process that Floridians have relied on for decades.

The ability to amend the Florida Constitution belongs to the people, not politicians. This is our fight to protect direct democracy.

What We Stand to Lose

Floridians have used citizen-led amendments to pass critical reforms:
- Amendment 4 restored the right to vote for 1.4 million Floridians.
- Amendment 2 raised the state’s minimum wage to $15 per hour.
- Amendment 2 (2016) legalized medical marijuana.
- Amendment 1 protected environmental conservation funding.

This attack on petitions isn’t about reform—it’s about shutting down the last tool we have to create real change.
